I want to add a double oven in my
kitchen. Do you know what
kind of wires I need? Do they generally take two 40 amps? I
know next to nothing about wiring, but I want to try and get my
details in order to present the case to my husband.
Thanks for your help!

Most double ovens come with one
flexible metal cable whip coming
from each oven. Some come with one whip serving both ovens
connected together in that factory.
A double oven may by wired with one branch circuit or two. You
need to check your manufacturer's recommendation to see if they
want two branch circuits or just one. Most commonly one branch
circuit is desired by the manufacturer.
You must use a 4 wire cable with a black, red, white, and bare
wire in that cable. 6 awg copper is the minimum wire size allowed
if both ovens are fed by one branch circuit. 8 awg copper is the
minimum for one single oven fed by one branch circuit for each
individual oven.
Both of these ovens require 220 volts expecting a 2 pole breaker
of each circuit if with two separate circuits and rated 40 amps
each and with a 8 awg copper 4 wire cable each, or one 220 volt
50 amp breaker if fed by one 6 awg copper 4 wire cable.
These branch circuits must come from you service panel or a sub-
panel rated large enough in ampacity to carry the new loads.
Hope this helps
